Leeds United got back to winning ways in the Championship last night. Goals from Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez saw Leeds win the game 2-1 and put to bed their two-game run of defeats.

After the recent loss against Cardiff City at Elland Road fears were mounting that perhaps Leeds were going to slip out of the play-off race and that they could not contend with teams playing in the Neil Warnock playing style.

After that game, Rob Green, usually a man of little words, sent out this tweet:

Many a Leeds fan was surprised to see Green be so candid over social media. After the win against Bristol last night he spoke to BBC Radio Leeds about the result and that tweet:

“It was as much for the group. It was to convey to everybody that in no way shape or form no one is not trying.

“As long as everyone understands, this is the same group of players that was in the bottom three. It’s the same group of players that at the start of the season was under pressure and we were going out and the expectation was I wonder if we’re going to win rather than against Cardiff, when we should win. It’s a different weight of expectation.

“We’ve got a group which are, hand on heart, the hardest working, honest bunch of lads that I’ve worked with.

“If we can turn Elland Road into a cauldron, which it has this season, the fans have been incredible. It’s really a wonderful asset to have for the club. If we can harness that energy to positive all the time, it really helps the lad.”

Green’s words were brilliantly put as Leeds now push toward promotion yet again. The club have managed to put themselves back on a winning track and will be hoping that can continue for the rest of the season.

But if Leeds are to push on then the fans need to continue their excellent support of the club. Green is certainly hoping everyone can go marching on together.
