Leeds fans are losing patience with their number one, with Silvestri waiting in the wings.
Rob Green may be forced to spend big on 37 birthday candles next month but, according to the man himself, he has plenty of years left in him yet.
The experienced shot-stopper has played in World Cups and countless Premier League six pointers but he’s not looking to hang up his gloves any time soon, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
Yet, Leeds United fans are hardly welcoming his protestations with open arms. Regardless of when Green sees fit to bring an end to a long career, his memory will always be tainted by crucial, defining errors. England fans still wake up in cold sweats thinking about the Clint Dempsey trickler in Rustenburg that rolled so agonisingly through his gasp while the patience of Leeds fans is already wearing thin.
According to The Sun, Green has committed more errors that led directly to goals than any other player in the Championship since the start of last season, with his costly and wholly uncalled for spill condemning Leeds to defeat at Newcastle before inducing jitters in many a fan throughout Friday’s loss at Brighton.

But, whether Leeds fans want him or not, Green is sticking around for the long haul.
“There’s still plenty of time left in me,” the former QPR and Norwich City ‘keeper told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“It’s interesting because you don’t feel any different, you’re not playing any different but in football you get discriminated against because it’s a young man’s game and people are wary of that. That’s the way it is.
“You just want to be there with the team and doing your utmost. It’s not going to be perfect every week but it’s not for the want of trying.
“I love being here and I love playing every week. If you enjoy playing and you’re playing every week, your performances are good enough to keep you in the team.”
Are they good enough though?
All the while Marco Silvestri, number one for the two previous seasons, remains consigned to the substitute’s bench. The Italian may hardly be the safest pair of hands but, according to the stats, he can consider himself unfortunate to have been marginalised by Garry Monk.

Squakwa report that Silvestri makes 2.4 saves for every goal while, in Green’s case, that figure drops to 1.7. Furthermore, the 36-year-old makes far more mistakes leading directly to a goal while also averaging fewer punches and catches per game.
