Leeds United sit ninth in the Championship table at the moment.
Rob Green has suggested to TV Yorkshire that Leeds United believe they can finish in the playoff positions this season.
Leeds, under manager Garry Monk, endured a horrendous start to the Championship season after managing to win one of their first six games.
But fast forward a couple of months and the Whites go into Saturday’s trip to Norwich knowing that victory could see them break into the top six for the first time this season.
Monk’s side have been in fine form over the last few weeks, winning eight of their last 11 games in all competitions – including a League Cup victory over the Canaries at Elland Road last week.
Indeed, the 38-year-old manager, who replaced Steve Evans in the summer, is doing a fine job and has really united the fanbase once again following a rough couple of years.
And Green has intimated that he would not be at the club if he did not fully believe in a playoff push.
Asked by TV Yorkshire if Leeds were capable of finishing in the playoffs, Green said: “We wouldn’t be here otherwise. We’re improving and it’s it’s critical for us to keep on doing that.
“We’re asking more of each other week, and with each game that goes by. Each game is bringing new challenges.”
Green seemed slightly guarded in his response, as if he was instructed to swerve such questions, and that would be very much in keeping with Monk’s own methods of handling expectation.
With regards to media, the former Swansea boss has kept his cards close to his chest from day one of taking the Leeds job, refusing to say too much about pretty much anything.
