Rafael Benitez’s decision to loan in Martin Dubravka should have made it clear that Rob Elliot needs to leave Newcastle United.

Rob Elliot should already be planning his exit from Newcastle United this summer.
Elliot began this season as Newcastle’s first choice, but he has rapidly slipped down the pecking order.
The Republic of Ireland international is now not even featuring in Newcastle’s match day squads, and that should be a signal that he needs to exit.

Elliot is far more capable than being a reserve goalkeeper, and at his age, he needs to be playing regularly.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez proved that he didn’t have too much faith in Elliot, when he brought in Martin Dubravka last month.
And with Dubravka now likely to move to St. James’ Park in the summer on a permanent deal, all signs suggest that Elliot should move on.

There are sure to be a number of suitors for Elliot, if he does become available, particularly in the Championship.
And the former Charlton Athletic man should now be realising that a move away from St. James’ Park is the best option for him.
