Jacob Murphy joined Newcastle United from Norwich City in the summer transfer window.
Murphy joined Premier League club Newcastle from Championship side Norwich City in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Chronicle to be worth £10 million.
The 22-year-old winger is a very talented and promising player, but his start to life at St. James’ Park has been slow.
The youngster has been able to make only two starts in the Premier League so far this season and has made five appearances as a substitute.
Newcastle goalkeeper Elliot, 31, has spoken highly of Murphy, and has said that he works hard.
“He’s a young kid and he had a big price tag coming here and it’s taken him a little while to settle,” Elliot told The Chronicle about Murphy.
“But he has great ability, he’s a really good lad who works hard and again, like a lot of our players, he’s young and he’s learning the game at the highest level.
“I thought he did really well at Old Trafford and hopefully this is just the start for him and we see a lot more of him in the future.”
Newcastle are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 14 points from 12 matches.
Rafael Benitez’s side, who won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season, are just four points about the relegation zone.
The Magpies will return to action this afternoon when they take on Watford at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
