Both Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic have been linked with moves away from Celtic in recent times. Could the club’s interest in Lovro Majer be hinting at anything?

The youngster is a full Croatian international, having won his first cap for the senior team last year.
Interest has also been reported from Everton, Newcastle and Genk, whilst the Hoops’ interest in the youngster dates back to summer 2017 when he was initially linked with a move to Glasgow.
As it stands, Celtic’s squad is fairly stacked when it comes to attacking midfielders. Since Brendan Rodgers’ appointment ahead of last season, we have seen the likes of Callum McGregor, Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic, Patrick Roberts and more recently Charly Musonda, all feature in the hole behind the striker.

All have excelled on occasion, and all have experienced dips in form too, which has always led to a difficult decision over who to pick in the advanced midfield position.
McGregor, an academy graduate who has been one of the club’s most consistent performers, looks highly unlikely to leave the Hoops anytime soon, whilst Charly Musonda is only a couple of months into his 18-month loan from Chelsea.
Patrick Roberts, who has missed much of the season through injury, will likely be departing the club come the end of the season after his loan from Manchester City expires, leaving behind Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic, the two players out of the list who have been surrounded by rumours of a move away more than any other.

Armstrong re-signed earlier on in the season, but was heavily linked with a move away from Parkhead following a severe dip in form on top of interest from the Premier League, whilst Rogic, who is yet to sign a new deal following issues over his new contract, is thought to be keen on a move if an improved offer is not tabled.
Either way, one of the two look most likely to make way, should Majer finally earn his move to Glasgow.
There is no doubt that both Rogic and Armstrong would be sorely missed at Celtic. The Australian proved his worth once again last weekend with a stunning strike against Rangers, building on his reputation as a big game player who never fails to pop up with the goods.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the Majer situation develops as we head towards the summer transfer window, with at least one Celt likely making way to free up space for the Croatian in the squad.
