According to Australian news outlet SBS, Celtic star Tom Rogic, 25, has rejected the offer of a new deal.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly unhappy with the terms of the contract offered, and has allegedly been irked by the arrival of Charly Musonda on loan from Chelsea.

Rogic has had his fair share of injury problems during his time at Celtic, but remains one of the club’s standout players with both creativity and flair.

The Socceroos ace has done more than prove his worth at Celtic, not least through his treble-sealing goal against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final last season, and the club will no doubt do all in their power to convince the star to stay.

Nevertheless, should Rogic be prepared to run down his contract or even force through a move away from Parkhead, Brendan Rodgers will have to quickly consider his options, which could well play into the hands of a certain Ryan Christie.

Christie has been loaned out for much of his Celtic career since arriving from Inverness CT, and is currently seeing out the rest of the season as an Aberdeen player, where he has grown into one of the most important players at the club.

The 23-year-old’s Celtic future lies in the balance, with many unsure as to whether he has what it takes to make it at Celtic Park, or whether he will even get a proper chance to showcase his talent.

Nevertheless, a move for Rogic would see the Hoops an attacking midfielder short and, with Christie already on the books, he may well be the man to turn to.

Christie has performed magnificently well for Derek McInnes’s side this season, with three goals and seven assists in the league so far, and has been a catalyst in terms of the team’s success this term.

Having performed so well on loan, Christie has done all he can in terms of putting his hand up for a place in the Celtic squad next season, and it will be interesting to see whether Rodgers believes the youngster has what it takes to make it as a Hoops star and fill the void left by Rogic should the Australian depart.
