The two teams face off in an FA Cup fifth-round replay tie as Wednesday make the trip to Wales after their first game ended a 0-0 draw.
Tonight will see Sheffield Wednesday make the trip Wales to face off against Swansea City in the FA Cup, as Carlos Carvalhal once again faces up against his former side.
Wednesday currently sit 17th in the Championship whilst the Swans find themselves in the relegation zone in the Premier League. Both clubs will be hopeful of making it through the tie to reach the quarter finals of the competition, as they look to both salvage their seasons and continue their impressive cup runs.
Carvalhal has done a brilliant job since leaving Wednesday for the the Liberty Stadium, having won six of his 13 games in charge so far, losing only twice.
At home, Swansea should be favourites to go through and have been touted by the bookies to do so, but which unexpected faces could we potentially see lineup tonight?
Connor Roberts
Kyle Naughton has had the right-back shirt nailed down since his arrival from Tottenham to Swansea in 2014 and has featured for the Swans 24 times in the Premier League this season.
However, tonight’s match against Sheffield Wednesday may present an opportunity to have a look at Wales under-21 prospect Connor Roberts who has been itching for more game time after a failed loan to Middlesbrough was cut short earlier this term.
Roberts has been a regular feature in Swansea’s FA Cup run this season having made four appearances in the competition so far and would no doubt relish the opportunity to play again tonight. With the remaining league games all vitally important in terms of survival, Carvalhal may be unable to risk Roberts in any other match and tonight could be one of the final opportunities of the season to trial the youngster by handing him an a rare start.
Adnan Maric
Could tonight see Adnan Maric earn his second appearance for Swansea City?
The Swedish youngster made his professional debut for the Swans earlier this season in the same competition against Notts County earlier this month. Aged 21, the Swede will be hopeful of another shot to impress Carvalhal in Swansea’s midfield, especially with the likes of Renato Sanches and Leroy Fer out injured.
Like Roberts, with all the remaining league games being so vitally important, tonight’s match may present the last opportunity of the season to test the youngster in a relatively safe environment.
Daniel James
Welsh youngster Daniel James announced himself to the Swansea faithful with a stunning strike on his debut in the FA Cup earlier this month against Notts County.
The 20-year-old winger has had to wait some time for his professional debut, but did not disappoint with a wonderfully taken goal to add to his team’s efforts.
The Swansea born Wales under-21 international may find himself near the bottom of the pecking order at the club, but that has not deterred him from sticking at it as he looks to establish himself as a player at his boyhood club.
James has also demonstrated his knack of scoring goals for the Swansea City under-23s and could likely be an option off the bench for Carvalhal in the FA Cup once again following his impact against Notts County.
