Both Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths have missed most of 2018 so far due to injuries, and their quality has been sorely missed around the Celtic squad.

James Forrest of Celtic celebrates his goal (Celtics 1st)with Stuart Armstrong during the Betfred Cup Final at Hampden Park on November 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Photos emerged from the official Celtic Twitter account Friday of Leigh Griffiths, Stuart Armstrong and Dedryk Boyata resuming light training.

Griffiths, who has been out with a long-tern calf problem, has been seeing a specialist to determine the extent of the damage. Having taken part in some training Friday, the signs are looking promising.

Armstrong has been recovering from a hernia operation underwent over a month ago, and is expected to make a full return to fitness after the international break. And it’s thought to be a similar story for Dedryk Boyata, who suffered a groin injury a couple of weeks ago.

Griffiths and his goal contributions have been missed since being sidelined, with Moussa Dembele struggling to emulate the form he enjoyed for the majority of last season.

Despite lengthy spells on the sidelines Griffiths remains the clubs third top scorer with 12 goals, two more than his strike colleague Dembele. If Griffiths can get back fit before the end of the season, the Scotland international could provide at the very least be used as an impact player off the bench.
