Aston Villa are set to make the trip to the Stadium of Light tomorrow to take on Sunderland, but who will they be without?
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has provided an injury update ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Sunderland.
The Championship promotion hopefuls are currently sitting in third place, four points behind Cardiff City who sit in an automatic promotion spot, as Bruce and his men go about trying to reestablish their status as a top flight English club at the second time of asking.
Last time out, Villa recorded a 4-2 victory of Sheffield Wednesday with goals from Lewis Grabban, Glenn Whelan, Conor Hourihane and Robert Snodgrass, but with Bruce’s latest comments, the starting XI is set line up slightly differently tomorrow.
The win against Wednesday say Alan Hutton start at left-back, however, Bruce confirmed the Scotsman will be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s game and looks unlikely to feature.
Jack Grealish, who is thought to be nearing a return to full fitness, will also be assessed ahead of the Sunderland match, having not featured since picking up a calf strain against Birmingham in the derby.
“Alan Hutton is the biggest doubt and we’re just waiting on Jack Grealish, but everyone else is fine,” Bruce told avfc.co.uk.
Tomorrow’s tie could see the return of Manchester United loan star Axel Tuanzebe. The defender arrived at Villa Park with much promise in January, as the defender went in search of some regular first team football and has featured three times for the club, however, has been sidelined in recent weeks due to a hamstring problem.
Having returned to fitness, the English youngster will no doubt be in the managers thoughts when it comes to team selection.
