As Celtic take on league strugglers Dundee tomorrow evening, will Rodgers take the opportunity to have a look at what the young blood can offer?

Celtic recorded yet another emphatic victory over Aberdeen at the weekend, extending Brendan Rodgers’ run of wins against the Dons to 10 in a row since taking over at Celtic Park in 2016.

The win saw the Hoops maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the table going into tomorrow’s game against Dundee.

Rodgers and his side did well to bounce back strongly after a massively disappointing loss to Zenit St Petersburg last Thursday, which saw them crash out of the Europa League.

With the focus fully turned towards domestic affairs, securing a second treble in a row is now the sole priority. However, with a nine-point lead at the top of the table, the chance to trial some youngsters has also been presented.

As the Hoops take on ninth-placed Dundee tomorrow evening, who might we see get a chance under Rodgers?

Jack Aitchison

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Jack Aitchison of Celtic during The Scottish FA Youth Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Jack Aitchison, 17, has been itching for another chance to showcase his talent in the Celtic first-team, having been impressing for the Hoops’ development side.

The youngest player to represent the football club in the history of Celtic, Aitchison already has a goal to his name in a Hoops shirt and has proven that he has the ability to score at the highest level.

With Leigh Griffiths still sidelined, blending Aitchison into the team may not be a bad shout form the Celtic gaffer, adding an additional forward option to the current Moussa Dembele-Odsonne Edouard partnership.

The 17-year-old’s game time has been somewhat limited due to the presence of the young French duo, however, this is no doubt that Aitchison is in the mould of a future Hoops star.

Charly Musonda

Charly Musonda of Celtic is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Heart of Midlothian at Celtic Park on January 30, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Having arrived from Chelsea on loan in January and already assisted arguably Celtic’s most important goal of the season, Charly Musonda, 21, is slightly different to the other Celtic youngsters and is arguably one of the highest profile players at the club.

Nonetheless, the Belgian will similarly be itching for a start like any other 20-year-old, having impressed during his cameo performances from the bench.

Musonda arrived with serious promise, and his level of skill and footballing pedigree has already begun to shine through despite limited minutes on the pitch.

18 months is a decent stint for the Hoops to be holding on to Musonda, so why not start making full use of his talents by gifting him a start against Dundee.

Calvin Miller

Calvin Miller of Celtic vies Jordan Houston of Rangers during The Scottish FA Youth Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

With the upcoming Rangers game in mind, Rodgers will be wary of injuries to his star performers, which is why the Dundee game may well see Calvin Miller, 20, feature in the starting line-up.

As Kieran Tierney’s deputy in the squad, Miller has struggled for regular game time, with the Scotland left-back being one of the first names on the team sheet each week. However, a chance for Miller to prove he offers sufficient cover in Tierney’s absence will always be welcomed by Rodgers.

A converted winger, Miller has bags of attacking qualities down the flank and could be a useful tool to help Scott Sinclair fire himself back into form ahead of the season run-in.
