This weekend’s Old Firm Derby could be won or lost in the middle of the park with Scott Brown and Sean Goss both arising as key figures for their respective teams.

Rangers’ on loan midfielder Sean Goss has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in Scottish football, having quickly rose to prominence as one of the club’s most important assets.
Not only has the former Manchester United youth player established himself as a set piece specialist, with two goals in nine appearances so far, but his presence in the midfield alongside Greg Docherty has been right at the heart of Rangers’ recent resurgence in the opening months of 2018.
Everything feels to be building up to this weekend’s match up and Goss will face a real test when he comes up against Celtic skipper Scott Brown.
Brown has completely dominated the Old Firm fixture in the last decade or so, stamping his authority on whoever it may be that lines up in the Rangers midfield.

Most recently, Premier League star Joey Barton made the switch north of the border with high expectations, and was at the centre of much discussion over establishing himself as the standout midfielder in Scottish football over the likes of Brown.
However, in typical fashion, Brown and his Celtic side walked all over Barton and essentially ended his Rangers career from then on.

Goss will be hoping for better fortunes, and will be approaching the fixture with much more confidence than the likes of Barton and others before him. If the 22-year-old can rattle Brown in the opening stages of the game, his young legs may just have the chance of getting the better of the veteran, but with so much experience in the derby, the odds are stacked in Brown’s favour.
Rangers will be desperate to achieve a win against their arch rivals and blast open the title race on Sunday, and if things go well for Goss, we may just see a changing of the guard in terms of the Scottish Premiership’s midfield top dog.
