The 16-year-old has already played for the Dungannon Swifts first-team in the NIFL Premiership and will be a welcome addition to Celtic’s academy.

Celtic have landed the signature of Northern Ireland under-17 goalkeeper Liam Hughes, 16, from NIFL Premiership side Dungannon Swifts.
Despite his tender age, the teenager has already featured for the County Tyrone side’s senior team and will be a strong addition to the Hoops’ youth set up.
The signing of Hughes continues the strong tradition Celtic has of signing young Northern Irish payers, which has only increased since the Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers managerial eras.
The Northern Irish under-17 international has a fine role model in compatriot Conor Hazard to look up to at Lennoxtown.

Hazard signed for Celtic back in 2014, only this time from Cliftonville, and has since gone on to develop nicely as a member of the Bhoys’ academy. Earning himself a four-year deal in September 2017, the youngster has since been loaned out to Falkirk to gain first-team experience, and he recently made his professional debut in a league victory for the Bairns.
Hughes will be hoping for much of the same after arriving in Glasgow, and will have boosted his chances of international recognition as a Celt, having already represented his country at various youth levels.
In fact, Hazard and Hughes being relatively close in age may develop quite the Northern Irish rivalry for the number 1 shirt in the years to come. Exciting times for both young Hoops.
