Harry Redknapp has talked of his attempts to sign Celtic ace James Forrest during his time as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he tried to sign Celtic winger James Forrest during his time at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp, who managed Spurs between 2008 and 2012, explained that he had monitored the then-19-year-old Forrest with the hope of landing the Scotsman’s signature and, considering the wide man’s current form, it may not have been a bad decision at all.

Forrest, linked with a move away form his boyhood club at several points in his career to date, each time decided to stick it out in Glasgow and now appears to be reaping the benefits. A regular starter for his national side, Forrest has won 12 trophies so far including an impressive six league titles in a row.
Since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, the 26-year-old has begun to add an extra dimension to his game finishing last season with eight goals and 14 assists.
So far this term the Scot has scored 10 reaching double figures in a single season for the first time in his career. Having played over 250 games for Celtic he is rapidly approaching a half century of goals with 48.

“At Spurs we looked at James Forrest when he was younger and it is good to see him coming back to form,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail,
“I know Brendan [Rodgers] well and it is no surprise what he has done at Celtic. Top English clubs will be looking at him.”

There is no doubt that Rodgers will be on the radar of a number of English clubs for what he has achieved so far at Celtic, but the other Bhoys man he mentioned could well add a lot to any Premier League side looking to sign some pace and creativity.
It is interesting that Forrest, arguably one of Celtic’s most in-form players this season, has attracted such little attention from down south compared to some of his fellow teammates.
