Glasgow Rangers midfielder Josh Windass sets himself the target of reaching double figures after an abysmal season of scoring last year.

Currently out in Florida on Rangers’ winter training camp, midfielder Josh Windass, 24, checked in with the Rangers website.

Rangers are set to play two Brazilian sides in Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians before heading back to the UK to get on with the latter half of the season.

Playing such sides does not come about too often as a European footballer and the former Accrington Stanley player is relishing the opportunity.

Speaking to the Rangers website, Windass said: “I imagine they will be really good sides, obviously technically it is known to be quite a good technical country.”

“It will be a good test for us and one that we are looking forward to.

The 24-year-old has been a first-team regular since joining up with the Gers in 2016 and was clearly rated by former boss Pedro Caixhina.

Under management of new boss Graeme Murty, it appears nothing has changed, especially with the Englishman now adding more goals to his game.

Last season Windass finished the season with a single goal to his name, however, this year he has already surpassed that having scored six.

As the club’s second top scorer this season behind Alfredo Morelos (who has 12), it is vitally important that he continues his scoring form and relieves a bit of pressure from the 21-year-old Colombian.

“I’ve done alright,” Windass added, “I have scored a few goals and contributed a lot more than I did last season but hopefully I can improve a lot more and keep getting better.

“I want to keep progressing as a player and keep pushing on. I normally try to get into double figures with goals, obviously last season that was a disaster but this season I am well on course.”
