The Gers landed the Hamilton midfielder for a reported £680,000; over double what they offered Hamilton last week

Greg Docherty, 21, has completed his move from Hamilton Accies to Rangers after a fee of £680,000 was agreed between the two clubs.

Docherty, a life-long Rangers fan, is Graeme Murty’s fifth signing of the January window, as he steps up his attempts to fix the patches in Pedro Caixinha’s squad and bridge the gap between Celtic and Aberdeen.

Rangers leap-frogged Aberdeen into second place after an impressive 2-0 over the Dons, edging Derek McInnes’s men on goal-difference.

After a £300,000 bid was rejected from Hamilton last week, Rangers have ended up paying over double their initial valuation for the Scotland under-21 international.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Docherty has made 108 appearances for Hamilton and has grown to become a crucial member of the side. His addition to the Rangers midfield will be welcome as the Ibrox squad begins to develop some serious depth across all areas of the pitch.

But what exactly do the Rangers fans think about their latest arrival? Here is some of the reaction from Twitter:
