The Gers landed the prospect from Finnish outfit FF Jaro in summer 2016 but the 19-year-old is yet to feature for Graeme Murty’s senior team.

For some time now, Rangers fans have been calling for 19-year-old Finnish prospect Serge Atakayi to get his chance in the first-team after a string of stunning performances for the Gers development side.
The 19-year-old DR Congo born forward joined Rangers from FF Jaro ahead of the 2016/2017 season after a trial with Leicester City, signing a three-year-contract. However he has not featured for the senior team since arriving in Glasgow.
The youngster caught the headlines last month after a stunning display for the Rangers development team in a game against Bayern Munich. Atakayi tormented the Bayern defence form start to finish, with the German club seemingly unable to handle his blistering pace and generally spirited performance.
Atakayi was handed the honour of flying to Florida to take part in the Gers’ winter training camp and is clearly rated by Murty and his coaching staff. But with so many top quality senior forwards, especially after the January transfer window, his patience may be tested further when it comes to waiting for his opportunity.
Having previously worked as a youth coach for Rangers, Murty will be well aware of Atakayi’s talents, which does bode well for the Finn.

The youngest goal-scorer in the history of Finland’s top flight, Rangers fans have been voicing their support of the youngster, many of whom are calling for him to get his opportunity in the first-team.
At 19, having played over 30 games of senior football for FF Jaro, Atakayi should be experienced enough to handle the demands of the Scottish Premiership, and must be itching for a chance to show the Ibrox faithful exactly what he is made of.
