Wilfried Zaha recently returned from injury for Crystal Palace and helped to inspire a win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Wilfried Zaha has continued his development into a fine attacking footballer after returning to Crystal Palace following a failed move to Manchester United.
At Old Trafford, the England-turned-Ivorian international only managed four appearances and was sent out on loan three times, before returning home to Selhurst Park on a permanent deal.
The Eagles look a real threat with Zaha in their side and the 25-year-old has the ability to torment players down the flanks, bagging 20 goals since his return to the South London club.
Regarded as the most valuable member of the team by many pundits and fans, former Palace and Arsenal legend Ian Wright explained that his former club are ‘relegation material’ without the Ivory Coast international, and even went as far to say that he is the best player in the Premier League outside of the top six teams.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, Wright said: “The fact that Palace without him are literally proper relegation material.
“With him playing they’re just a different team.
“Palace is the best place for him, he’s allowed to just get on with it and do his stuff, and with Wilf, that’s what you’ve got to do with him.”
The Premier League legend went on to say that it was a shame Sir Alex Ferguson did not get the chance to work with Zaha, as it would have been interesting to see how well the youngster could have actually performed in such a high pressure environment. However, he cited the freedom for the winger to express himself and get away with mistakes as the reason that Selhurst Park is the right spot for him.
With their win against Huddersfield at the weekend, Palace finally pulled themselves out of the relegation zone and will be looking to avoid dropping back into it for the remainder of the season. If any player has a say in that, you would expect it to be Zaha.
