Norwich City earlier confirmed the signing of Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean.

The Scotland international signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Canaries, which will keep him at the club until 2021. Although the transfer fee was undisclosed, SkySports believed it to be somewhere within the region of £200,000.

McLean has been an integral part to Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen side over the last few years and is the only member of the team to have played in every single one of Aberdeen’s 29 games so far this season.

The 26-year-old’s athleticism and work rate will be greatly missed by Aberdeen’s midfield, however, the club have half a season left to make use of his talents before he joins up with his new parent club at Carrow Road.

Dons boss McInnes spoke highly of McLean after his player completed his move, wishing him well and highlighting his delight for the midfielder.

McLean himself told the Norwich City website: “Norwich has the right feel about it. I’ve met people at the club and it just seemed right that this was the place for me to come.

“The manager’s philosophy suits me and the club is right for me at this time of my career.

“I think it’s right for me to have a pre-season in the summer with the new team and with the manager. I’ll need to adapt to the way he wants to play, and that takes time and doing that in pre-season is right for me.”

Aberdeen will likely wait until summer before looking to replace McLean, having retained his services for the rest of the season despite his sale, and that will enable them time to earmark and move for the ideal long-term replacement.
