The Liverpool talisman has been drawing comparisons with Messi the entire season and now has a statistic to add fuel to the discussion
Liverpool’s Egyptian ace Mohamed Salah has become the first player in Premier League history to score 20 goals in a single season with his left foot.
His efforts this season have broken a record held by another former Liverpool star in Robbie Fowler, who netted 19 Premier League goals with his left peg in the 1994/95 season.
Salah’s prolific goal scoring this season has been more than impressive and he has proven to be one of the signings of the season with 31 goals in 37 games in all competitions so far this term, remaining one of the top scorers in all of Europe.
His left-footed efforts have surpassed the likes of other left sided geniuses like Robin van Persie, whose highest season tally stands at 18, and Gareth Bale, who netted 16 goals with his left in the same season.
With 10 Premier League games to go, given his goal scoring record so far this season, Salah will likely add a fair few more to his record before the end of the campaign and is already looking like one of the best left footed players in the history of the competition.
Already blessed with a similar playing style and tenacity of Lionel Messi, you can appreciate why the constant comparison has been made between the two players all season, given the Egyptian’s displays with his left foot.
