Liverpool’s German goalkeeper Loris Karius endured a tough start to life at Anfield but has since done well to establish himself as the club’s number one stopper.

Liverpool will be reconsidering their pursuit of Roma’s Alisson Becker after news recently broke of interest in the Brazilian from both Real Madrid and Napoli.

According to TalkSport, Napoli are interested in landing their Serie A rival goalkeeper as a replacement for Pepe Reina, whilst reports by Mundo Deportivo suggest that Real Madrid, who have been after a goalkeeper for a number of years, are also thought to be extremely keen.

However, with the asking price for Alisson standing somewhere within the region of £70m (Liverpool Echo), and given the recent rise to prominence of Loris Karius, perhaps Jurgen Klopp and the Reds would be wiser to invest their transfer kitty elsewhere.

Karius is still young, and if goalkeepers’ experiences in England such as David De Gea’s are anything to go by, we are likely still to see the best of the German.

The Premier League takes some time to adjust to and it appears as though Karius is finally doing that as he continues to put in some solid displays in a Liverpool shirt.

With a few weaknesses elsewhere on the pitch, such as the remaining gulf in quality amongst the club’s centre-half options, strengthening the defence by bringing in a defender seems like a better option currently than a goalkeeper.

That being said, rumours have also emerged from Anfield of a possible departure for Simon Mignolet, who is growing increasingly frustrated with his more and morel likely spot on the bench each week according to DH.

If Mignolet leaves, Liverpool may well opt to sign Alisson should he become available, to generate some competition for places between the sticks.

However, with Real Madrid and Napoli interested in the Brazilian as well, the Reds may have a battle on their hands when it comes to signing the 25-year-old.
