Liverpool are hoping to address their goalkeeping issues by landing AS Roma’s Alisson
Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson appears to be Klopp’s number one target
According to the Sun, Liverpool are keen to bring goalkeeper Alisson to Anfield this month.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has begun a trend of raiding certain clubs for their star players in recent years. The Reds have spent some £150m on Southampton players since the south coast club returned to the Premier League and, with Mohamed Salah proving to be the potential signing of the season, the former Borussia Dortmund boss seems keen on adding another Roma player to his ever-improving squad.
Having finally landed the signature of Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s defensive problems finally seem to be being addressed.
However, a single centre-back can only do so much and for many fans the real problem lies behind the back four and in between the sticks.
Loris Karius arrived from Mainz 05 with much promise but has failed to impress the Anfield faithful
Loris Karius’s arrival from Mainz 05 last season was surrounded with high expectation, however, nervy performances and a number of crucial mistakes led to him being dropped, with Klopp deciding to stick with the inconsistent Simon Mignolet.
According to The Sun Liverpool are reportedly ready to battle it out with PSG over the signing of Brazilian keeper Alisson, who are also keen on the 25-year-old.
The Brazil international has put in clean sheet performances in half of his appearances for Roma this season and has demonstrated the exact goalkeeping dominance that Liverpool have lacked since the Pepe Reina era.
Since Pepe Reina’s loss of form at Liverpool the Reds have really struggled to establish a dominant first choice keeper
With Van Dijk now on the books, the addition of Alisson could be the final piece of the jigsaw for Klopp’s Liverpool.
Roma, however, have no intention of letting their shot stopper go with the Brazilian tied down by contract until 2021.
