With silverware looking unlikely for the Reds once again this season, who exactly has been the better Liverpool manager?

The Liverpool legend was presented with the question of who he thought had been the better Liverpool manager after 150 games in charge each and, despite opting for Klopp, he launched a fierce defence of now-Celtic boss Rodgers.
Both managers have very similar records at Liverpool, with Rodgers having been in charge of around 30 more games than Klopp.

The German has enjoyed a win percentage of 52 per cent, while Rodgers left Liverpool in 2015 with a record of 50 per cent. Carragher was quick to point out, however, that the Northern Irishman has come closer than any Liverpool manager to winning the league in the club’s recent history.
Comparing him to the likes of Gerard Houllier, Roy Evans, Rafael Benitez and Kenny Dalglish, Carragher pointed out that, despite the prestige surrounding all of those names, when it came down to who mounted the best title challenge in the Premier League, you simply cannot look beyond Rodgers’ 2013/2014 2nd place finish.
That is two places better than Klopp can currently boast, having only finished as high as fourth.

“It’s always seen as a dig at Brendan Rodgers, I actually think Brendan Rodgers is the best British manager,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Rodgers at times is ridiculed, even sometimes by Liverpool fans on social media, ‘oh Brendan Rodgers has only done this’, ‘Klopp’s only done that’ as if Brendan Rodgers is the worst manager they’ve ever seen at Liverpool.
“[Rodgers] came closer than anyone to winning a league title.”
Carragher went on the suggest that, should a top four Premier League job become available, Rodgers should and would likely top the list of candidates as ‘the best British manager out there’.
