Liverpool’s Scottish international left-back Andrew Robertson believes teammate Mohamed Salah is one of the best in the business.
Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has come out full of praise for his Egyptian teammate Mohamed Salah after the winger’s unbelievable performance against Watford on Saturday.
The Premier League top scorer took his tally to 28 goals in the league as he struck four times and recorded an assist for Roberto Firmino as the Reds downed Watford 5-0 at Anfield.
Robertson, like Salah, has taken his game to the next level this season with both players having moved to Merseyside in the summer transfer window. However, nobody could have predicted the Egyptian’s meteoric rise to the top, nor could they predicted that he would be favourite to take illustrious accolade of European Golden Shoe.
In doing so, Salah has drawn comparisons with Lionel Messi, a player whom many believe to be the greatest footballer to ever grace the game, and teammate Robertson believes he is not far off that.
Speaking to SkySports, Robertson described Salah as one of the best in the business.
“I thought on Saturday he was unplayable. I thought he was unbelievable and I think that could have arguably have been his best game so far,” the Scotsman said.
“To top it off with four goals was just ridiculous but it all comes from all of us working so hard. Mo gets in those positions all the time and just now he’s putting everything away.”
The left-back went on to cite Messi’s longevity at the top which currently sets him apart from the Egyptian, however, should he maintain his current level, there is no doubt he will be regarded as one of the world’s best players by all.
“Messi has been doing it for years […] hopefully if [Salah] can keep doing it he will be in that bracket but I don’t think you can argue that there probably isn’t anyone better in the world than him just now,” Robertson added.
“If he can kick on from here then I think he will be [regarded as] one of the best players in the world.”
