How exactly do Liverpool fans feel about the returning Clyne, given the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne made his return to action after seven months out, completing a full 90 minutes for the under-23 side.

The England international suffered an injury prior to the season and has yet to feature for the senior side in the 2017/18 campaign.

In place of Clyne, teenage prospect Trent Alexander-Arnold has stepped up massively and has grown to become a first team regular under Klopp this season.

The 19-year-old was Liverpool’s Young Player of the season last term and has made 20 appearances so far, scoring three goals.

With Alexander-Arnold performing so well in a Liverpool defence which is looking more and more settled each week, news of Clyne’s return has been received with mixed emotion from the Anfield faithful.

Some are welcoming back the former Southampton star, and are pleased with the added boost to the squad, whilst others are wary that Clyne’s return will simply hamper Alexander-Arnold’s development.

Clyne has made nearly 100 appearances for the Reds since joining two and a half seasons ago, and despite generally performing well, some fans do not appear to believe he has what it takes to make it as a Liverpool great.
