The Reds have already landed Naby Keita for the beginning of next season but are on the look-out for another central midfielder.
According to the Sun, the Brazilian side are unwilling to part ways with their starlet until the end of their next domestic season (that runs from May to December).
Having lost Philippe Coutinho last month to Barcelona, the Reds are now coming to terms to the likelihood that utility man Emre Can will be departing the club following the completion of his contract in the summer.
A deal for RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita has already been confirmed as Liverpool look to reload their central midfield options, and Arthur’s attacking prowess would provide the perfect compliment to Keita’s defensive style in the heart of the pitch.
Unfortunately fro Liverpool, however, it is looking unlikely that they will be landing their target this summer as they had hoped.
On top of this, Catalan giants Barcelona as also reportedly interested in the Brazilian, and had opened talks with the youngster over a proposed move, but this has since failed to materialise.
It remains to be seen which club the youngster will opt for if any, but there is no doubt he would provide much needed cover in the central attacking areas following Coutinho’s Liverpool departure.
With Can also set to leave the club in the summer, Liverpool may be unable to wait until midway through next season to bring in their midfield target.
