Celtic development coach Kolo Toure has lifted the lid on his views regarding the likelihood of Brendan Rodgers returning to the Premier League.

Speaking to SkySports’ SPFL Matters on Saturday 6th April, Kolo Toure, who has won a league title with both Arsenal and Celtic as an ‘invincible’, has lifted the lid on his views regarding the rumours surrounding Brendan Rodgers and a potential move back to the Premier League.

The rumours surrounding an Arsene Wenger Arsenal departure have simply not gone away over the last couple of seasons with the Premier League giants suffering a huge knock in confidence in terms of results, quality of performances and a genuine title challenge on all fronts.

With Rodgers’ experience in England’s top flight, on top of what he has achieved at Celtic so far, it is understandable that he has been liked with the Emirates job, and is widely regarded as the best British manager currently active in management.

However, Toure believes that as a Celtic fan, managing the club he loves and winning trophy after trophy along the way, the Northern Irishman is extremely happy in his current employment role.

Brendan Rodgers manager of Celtic celebrates victory after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“He’s been in the Premier League and he nearly won the Premier League,” Toure explained, having been a part of Rodgers’ Liverpool squad that finished second place in 2013/2014.

“Coming [to Celtic], this is a club of his heart, and he wants to do as well as possible here. I don’t know what his thought is for the future, but right now I think he wants to do the best here, for sure.”

Having signed a new contract just a year ago which should keep him at Celtic Park until 2021, Rodgers could well stick around as the club look to secure 10 league titles in a row which would make them the first Scottish club to achieve such a feat.

As a Celtic fan, there is a good chance Rodgers will see out his contract, however, should a job as prestigious as Arsenal become available, a second crack at the Premier League could be too difficult to turn down for the former Chelsea youth coach.
