Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish has opened up on his ambitions of playing football at the highest level in an interview with the Telegraph.

The 22-year-old midfielder explained that he wishes to be playing in the Premier League week in, week out and believes he can be a top performer at the highest level. As a life long Villa fan, his dream is of course to do this in the claret and blue.

Grealish has two season of experience in England’s top flight and is well aware of the demands of the world’s richest league. So far, he has 34 Premier League appearances under his belt from the days when he was just breaking into the senior side.

Now, as a first-team regular, he must be itching to lead his side out of the Championship and back to where he feels the club belongs.

“Of course I want to be playing in the Premier League every week,” Grealish explained to the Telegraph, “I believe I can play at the highest level and I want to do it as quickly as possible.

“I’ll be 23 in September and I want to be there with Villa. It would mean everything to help get us back where we belong.

“The gaffer said in pre-season he wanted to build the team around me and that’s what you like to hear. To have that belief and trust is massive. I want to repay him by getting Villa promoted.”

Villa manager Steve Bruce has previously been on record describing Grealish as the best player in the Championship; big praise for the 22-year-old considering the numerous fine talents around the league.

Nonetheless, the midfielder is undoubtedly worthy of that sort of recognition and is a crucial member of Villa’s surprisingly successful side this season. Having switched his allegiance from Ireland to England, the Three Lions may just have a new midfield option next season should Villa beat the likes of Fulham and Cardiff City to seal a place in the top flight.
