The Mexican star has failed to impress during his time at West Ham United but can take confidence after hitting the back of the net against Watford.

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, 29, finally appears to be re-finding his feet in the Premier League having bagged three goals in his last four league appearances.

The Mexican star endured a tough start to his Hammers career after arriving with much promise, failing to get on the score sheet on too many occasions.

Having only scored four times in his first 17 appearances in the league for the East London club, Hernandez is beginning to keep his season total ticking over and is now tied as the club’s top goal-scorer with fellow newcomer Marko Arnautovic.

With the Hammers having lacked a cutting edge up top for most of the season, it finally appears that the club’s two major summer signings are coming good, and could go on to form quite the partnership should their good fortunes continue.

When Hernandez gets going for a club, you know exactly what you can expect from Mexico’s all-time leading scorer. An expert poacher, Hernandez works tirelessly off the ball to manoeuvre himself into goal-scoring positions, which he demonstrated on plenty of occasions at both Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen.

With Andy Carroll sidelined for three months, it is imperative for the Hammers that Arnautovic and Hernandez remain fit if West Ham are to continue picking up results that keep them well away form the drop zone.

Moyes’ men may sit in 12th, however, with only five points separating Bournemouth in 10th and Southampton in 18th, a couple of bad results could see any of the teams in between come tumbling down the table.

The Mexican’s discovery of form alongside his Austrian colleague could not have come at a better time for West Ham United with 11 games to go, especially with a trip to Anfield coming up next.
