Hearts already have Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith on their books and are looking to add a third Rangers star from the late 2000s in Allan McGregor.

Hearts will revisit their interest in Scotland and Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor this summer, according to the Sun, with the veteran’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old has as much experience as they come, has played almost every league game for Hull in the Championship this season and does not look like slowing down anytime soon.

The Jambos were keen on bringing McGregor to Tynecastle last summer, however, the former Rangers star declined, opting to stay with Hull. With current Hearts goalie John McLaughlin attracting attention from down south, it seems natural to revisit a move for McGregor, especially considering the expiration date of his contract.

Should Hearts land McGregor, it would be the third former Rangers star from the late 2000s that they will have brought in, with Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith already plying their trade in Edinburgh.

McGregor started his career at Rangers and stayed for 11 years, before moving to Besiktas following the club’s financial meltdown.

Throughout his career, McGregor has also enjoyed stints as the national team goalkeeper, and recently picked up another cap with Craig Gordon out injured.

The Scotsman is no doubt entering the final stages of his career, however, he has proved that he can still play at the highest level and would be a great addition to Hearts already strong defence which boasts Cristophe Berra and John Souttar.
