The former Gers and Kilmarnock player says Rangers’ trip to Somerset Park this weekend will be no easy feat.

Windass was involved in an incident that riled the Ranger support after he gestured to the away fans at Firhill, causing his manager Graeme Murty to question the attacking midfielder over the incident after the game.
The reason behind Windass’s decision to carry out such an act remains to be seen, with potential criticism on social media being touted as the potential reason.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, MacPherson was quick to point out to Windass that this was an unwinnable battle for any player, especially when the support of a hugely prestigious side such as Rangers is involved, advising the 24-year-old that heavy criticism is part and parcel of playing for any big football club.
“He’ll never win that fight,” MacPherson said, “but you would advise him to keep his council.
“Yeah, he’ll have been frustrated if the criticism has been over the top, he believes, but that’s the nature of playing.”

MacPherson then went on to predict a tough game for Rangers on Sunday in the Scottish Cup, as his former side travel to Somerset Park to take on League One club Ayr United.
The current Queen’s Park manager pointed to Ayr’s significant win over top flight opponents Kilmarnock earlier in the season in the League Cup as stone wall evidence that the game is anything but won already.
“For the [Ayr] game itself, it’s a difficult game for Rangers, especially at Somerset Park,” he added.
“Ayr had a fantastic result earlier in the season against Kilmarnock, and they thoroughly deserved to win.”
