The Celtic star does not want to talk about the treble again just yet, but could not help himself when reminiscing about last year’s Scottish Cup final.

Speaking to the media ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle tomorrow, Callum McGregor, 24, could not help but discuss the emphatic treble-sealing final at Hampden last year.
The Hoops completed their stunning unbeaten domestic treble with a win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final, which saw Tom Rogic net a winner in the dying moments of normal time, sending half of Glasgow into a frenzy.
Having picked up the League Cup already this season, and looking in a dominant position to land the club a seventh league title in a row, talk of a second successive treble is inevitable.

However, McGregor was quick to quash this and explained what he believes the key to further success is for the Hoops this season.
As confirmed by Celtic’s official Twitter account McGregor said: “It was a massive competition for us last year going down to the last day. The scenes we had that day were excellent and special as a group. We hold it in high regard here as to what we want to do.
“To go and win the game and complete the invincible treble will stay with you until the end of your days. It’s a special day to remember.

“Talking about a treble again isn’t what we want to do. We want to return to winning ways at the weekend and start focusing on every game the way we did last season.”
Celtic’s status as invincibles was quickly taken away from them in December, as the Hoops were completely dismantled by Hearts at Tynecastle in an embarrassing 4-0 defeat.
Rodgers and his team have simply not experienced the dominance of the 2016/2017 campaign, but McGregor believes that taking things back to basics will be the key to finishing the season strongly.
“[Focusing on every game is] what got us the success,” he added. “I think we need to go back to that and back to basics a bit.”
