Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn tweeted his support to former club Rangers ahead of their Scottish Cup clash this weekend sparking quite the reaction from Gers fans.

Rangers recorded another high scoring victory at the weekend as they defeated Falkirk 4-1 in the Scottish Cup quarter final.

A stunning display from January arrival Jason Cummings saw the forward net all four goals for his team to seal qualification for the semi-finals.

Rangers will now face treble winners and defending champions Celtic after the draw was confirmed yesterday, with the two clubs also set to meet this weekend at Ibrox in the most highly anticipated league fixture of the season so far.

Prior to the victory of Falkirk, former Rangers star Martyn Waghorn tweeted his support to his former club, sparking a large flurry of reaction with many Gers fans praising their former forward, wishing him the best and expressing their desire for a reunion.

The English striker netted 44 goals in 78 appearances for Rangers during his two seasons in Glasgow and quickly became a fan favourite through his fiery performances. The Sunderland academy product was also named the Rangers Player’s Player of the Year in 2016, after a stunning scoring season which saw the forward finish with a tally of 28 in all competitions.
