Kris Boyd became the all time leading scorer in the Scottish Premier League during his time at Kilmarnock and Rangers, and has slammed Joey Barton over his recent attack on the Scottish game.

Joey Barton has ruffled a few feathers to say the least with his latest controversial comments regarding the quality of Scottish football.
The former Manchester City player, moved to Rangers ahead of last season, full of confidence that he would take the league by storm.

Expecting to have it easy and be the best player in the country, Barton lasted five league games at Ibrox and was famously humiliated in a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Celtic, a game in which the midfielder was dominated by Scott Brown.
Seemingly unable to let go of his failure of a Rangers career, Barton’s latest comments have led to responses from a number of pundits and former players, with Ibrox legend Kris Boyd being the latest to slam the two time Championship winner.
“[Barton] was a failure himself [in Scotland],” Boyd told BBC’s Sportsound on 19th March 2018.
“For me, you don’t hear me harping on about Middlesbrough. Why? Because I don’t want to bring it up because I was a failure.

“You don’t really hear me harping on about Turkey. Why? Because I was a failure.”
Boyd went on to further criticise Barton, saying that he spent more time on the golf course than he did putting in the hard graft at training and helping his teammates as one of the more experienced players in the squad should have done.
“He was on Loch Lomond more than he was on the football pitch up here,” the Kilmarnock striker added.
