A potential World Cup opportunity has arisen for Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe after Nigeria offered the youngster a chance to switch allegiance.

Born in London, Ibe has represented England at every level up to under-21 and is yet to be called up to the senior side, but qualifies for Nigeria through his father.
The Nigerian Football Federation has been in touch with Ibe over a possible switch at various points in his career, first trying to lure him away from England during his days as a teenager at Liverpool, then shortly after his move to Bournemouth.
Each time, Ibe declined the offer, not due to an unwillingness to play for Nigeria but instead to focus on things at club level first.

Despite declining, Ibe clearly stated that he did not wish to close the door in terms of an international career with Nigeria in the future.
With Russia on the horizon, it seems only natural for Nigeria to get in contact with Ibe once again, in a final attempt to get him to commit to the Super Eagles.
Despite enduring a tough start to life on the South Coast, Ibe has since kicked on and looked a real threat down the flank for the Cherries. His form may have even opened the door to a potential England call-up, yet so far that is looking unlikely.
As a result, it is thought that Ibe is seriously considering a switch to Nigeria, which would see him join fellow Englishman and Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi in the national team; an exciting prospect for national team coach Gernot Rohr.
