Simon Donnelly predicts his old side Celtic to defeat Rangers in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

This weekend, Scotland will be blessed with yet another Old Firm encounter as the green and blue sides of Glasgow come together to face off in a highly anticipated Scottish Cup semi-final match at Hampden Park.
The game will have added importance due to Celtic’s quest for a second domestic treble winning season in a row, with Rangers doing all in their power to put a stop to it, and reach a cup final themselves.
The last outing between the two sides was a thrilling encounter which saw 10-man Celtic go on to record a historic 3-2 victory at Ibrox, essentially wrapping up the league title there and then at Ibrox.
The Gers came close that day and have definitely done well to try and bridge the gap between the two clubs. However, they will not be satisfied with anything other than a victory this Sunday in the cup.

Not only must they defeat the Hoops, but reaching the final would present them with the chance to win major silverware, which the club has been crying out for since their plight to the bottom of the SPFL in 2012.
“No, I don’t see [Rangers] winning it,” Donnelly explained.
“I think Celtic, every time they’ve been asked this season, whether it was up at Pittodrie, or the last game at Ibrox, they’ve answered anything that’s been put at their door. I think they’ll do it again quite comfortably.”
A victory for Rangers would surely give Graeme Murty a huge chance of retaining his job beyond the end of the current season, however, a win is a big ask for the club against a Celtic team who has successfully re-imposed their dominance over the rest of the league in the last couple of months when questions were beginning to be asked of them.
