Could Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon be dark horse for England’s World Cup squad?

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has praised the youngsters’ versatility, who has been excelling down the left side of the pitch.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has heaped the praise on his English starlet Ryan Sessegnon, highlighting the youngster’s versatility as one of his greatest assets.

The teenager has enjoyed a stunning start to life in professional football with the club that he joined at under-nine level.

Since his debut last season, Sessegnon has gone on to make 68 Fulham appearances so far, netting 21 goals from left-back/left-wing.

An astonishing statistic was revealed today which drew attention to the fact that Sessegnon’s 14 goals this season is more than all other teenagers at Championship level combined (13).

“I like using Sess both as a left-back and winger,” Jokanovic explained via the Fulham website.

“Ryan’s physicality is fantastic and can attack from both positions.”

For a 17-year-old, Jokanovic is not wrong to praise the youngster’s physical attributes. At 5ft10in, he is not the world’s tallest player, but possesses that natural strength and low centre of gravity which allows him to brush past players at great speed, seen in other stars such as Raheem Sterling or Xherdan Shaqiri.

With interest from the English top flight growing and growing, perhaps an England call up for this summer’s trip to Russia would not actually be such a rash call.

With the likes of Leighton Baines, Ryan Bertrand, Luke Shaw and Danny Rose all having either struggled with injuries, lack of game time or simply a lack of form this term, there is no standout candidate for the England number three shirt, and despite Sessegnon’s lack of experience, he would no doubt make a great addition to the squad.

The likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in the youngster for no reason, and should Fulham fail to win promotion this season, you would expect the club to have a tough ask on their hands when it comes to trying to keep the teenager at Craven Cottage.
