The Celtic prospect will be hoping to emulate his older brother by breaking into the first-team but will hope to go one step further.
17-year-old Celtic youngster Ewan Henderson has been one of the Hoops’ development team’s strongest performers this season as he continues to give Brendan Rodgers food for thought.
As younger brother of former Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson, 21, who secured a January move away form Parkhead to Italian Serie B club Bari, the attacking midfielder will be hopeful of emulating his sibling by breaking through the ranks into the Celtic senior team.
However, with Liam having been shipped off to Italy, unable to build on his 37 Celtic appearances, Ewan will no doubt have greater aspirations when it comes to his own Hoops career and hope he can go one step further and become a first-team regular.
Earlier this season, Henderson was handed a spot on the bench by Brendan Rodgers in a league match against Hibernian. Although he did not make it on, the experience will have been great for the youngster to experience the match day experience as a senior pro, and his inclusion in the squad alone proves his manager thinks highly of the teenager.
This season has seen fellow academy graduates in Anthony Ralston, Calvin Miller and Mikey Johnstone all feature for the first-team, with Henderson and Jack Aitchison lurking in the wings for their chance to impress.
All the youngster can do is concentrate on his football and perform for the development side, which has been exactly what Henderson has been doing.
The 17-year-old was one of Celtic’s standout performers in the UEFA Youth League this term, drawn against tough opposition in PSG, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht.
Featuring in all six games, Henderson bagged two assists and a goal from midfield, and he has carried over his performances in Europe to the SPFL development league where he is a regular assist-provider to fellow prospect Aitchison.
