Liverpool were believed to have accepted a loan deal from the Serie A giants, however the striker favours a move to Spain.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Daniel Sturridge, 28, has stalled a loan move to take him from Anfield to the San Siro.

The striker is set to be named in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for their FA Cup tie against West Brom this Saturday, having missed out on Monday’s trip to Swansea in the Premier League.

Sturridge has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this month, after he indicated that he wished for the chance to go out and play elsewhere.

The England striker is desperate for game time on the pitch as he steps up his attempt to make his country’s squad ahead of the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Having made only five starts this season, the 28-year-old has not featured since December 6 and is reportedly itching to get his chance.

Liverpool are not keen on allowing their 63-goal striker to leave, however, they conceded that they would accept an offer within the region of £30million for his services.

So far no club has offered such fee and, instead, Sevilla and Inter Milan are keen to take the player on loan.

Liverpool reportedly accepted an approach from Inter which would involve the Serie A giants paying 100% of his wages until the end of the season, as well as paying a £2million loan fee. Yet with Sturridge favouring a move to Sevilla, the move has been stalled.

The ball is very much in Sturridge’s court with his parent club not actually wanting to part ways with him. It is up to him to accept whatever loan offers may arise, or alternatively choose to stay at Anfield and fight for his place in the team to prove his worth for England.
