Cenk Tosun’s form could allow Sam Allardyce to keep his job at Everton

Everton’s Turkish front man was on hand to score again for the second week in a row in the weekend’s win over Brighton.

Saturday afternoon saw Cenk Tosun net his first ever goal in front of a Goodison Park crowd as the Turkish striker played a massive hand in his side’s victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The victory marked another strong Tosun performance, having arrived with much promise in January, but a slow start to life in Merseyside saw the former Besiktas resigned to a string of appearances off the bench.

Nevertheless, Everton boss Sam Allarydce will be pleased with his signings efforts in the last two games, with a goal in each of his last two outings.

In the past few weeks there has been a lot of talk about whether or not Sam Allardyce will remain at the helm at Goodison Park beyond the current campaign.

The former England manager, who has developed quite the reputation of perennially avoiding relegation, has been touted by many to lose his job even if he can ensure Everton retain their Premier League status.

However, if Tosun continues to perform and finishes the season strongly with a decent goal record, the Turk could player a huge part in whether or not Allardyce keeps his job.

The entire season, Everton have been crying out for a striker to lead their line which, in fairness, boasts a number of useful attacking players.

Wayne Rooney was trialled as a striker in the opening stages of the season, however, has since been deployed in a deeper midfield role, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin, undoubtedly a player with huge potential, perhaps is not quite yet ready to be starting up top week-in-week-out in the Premier League.

If Tosun proves to be the man for the job, Allardyce must be hugely credited with his capture, regardless of whether or not Everton fans think he should never have gotten the job in the first place, and the current Goodison Park gaffer will surely be putting full trust into his £27m (BBC) signing who could well be the difference maker between Big Sam’s sacking or a new contract.
