John Hartson, 42, has revealed after holding talks with the Welsh FA that he will not be taking over from where Chris Coleman left off.
The Hoops legend, who won 51 caps for his country, currently works as a coach for Scottish Championship side Livingston FC but has no prior experience of being a senior manager.
Not that this is an issue, Hartson clearly has an interest in management and could well have gone down the route of fellow countryman Mark Hughes, who took up his first post in management as Wales boss leading the national side between 1999 and 2004.
Hartson revealed all with his tweet last night:
Hartson had previously been on record stating that he was interested in job and that he would love to manage his country, however, simply due to lack of experience and given the current standard of the Welsh national team, it was never likely he would have got the job at this stage of his career.
In the future you never know though, as national legends are often the perfect figurehead to lead a country forward.
