Ghanaian right-back Daniel Opare is keen to commit his future to Augsburg amid interest from Stoke City, Everton and Leicester City.
FC Augsburg’s Ghanaian full-back Daniel Opare, 27, has spoken of his desire to re-sign with the Bundesliga club in an interview with German football publication Kicker.
It is believed that Augsburg were keen on either offloading Opare this January or getting him to commit to a new deal, with the main aim to avoid losing the defender on a free transfer.
Opare’s current contract expires at the end of the season.
Speaking to Kicker Opare said: “My advisor and my big brother are taking care of these things.
“They are in good conversations with FC Augsburg, I am ready to extend my contract and glad to be able to play here for several more years.”
Opare, who joined Augsburg from Porto in 2015, was beginning to attract a lot of attention from English clubs with the likes of Stoke, Everton, Swansea and Leicester all looking to enquire about the right-back’s services.
The Ghanaian international’s words would suggest that he is unlikely to be making the switch to the Premier League any time soon, with his heart set on sticking it out in Germany.
Side-lined by a hamstring injury at this moment in time, the former Real Madrid youth player was beginning to become a regular in the Augsburg side after returning from a loan spell away in Ligue 1 with RC Lens.
