Brighton & Hove Albion have had a £6m bid rejected by Bristol City for centre-back Aden Flint according to SkySports.

The 28-year-old, who has 18-months remaining on his current contract, was linked with a move to Birmingham City last summer, however, the midlands club were put off by Bristol’s £10m asking price.

Flint has emerged as a very attractive centre-back option of late due to his prolific goal scoring for a defender.

The gigantic centre-half has scored nearly 50 goals in the Football League for Swindon Town and Bristol City with his highest season tally currently sitting at an impressive 16.

Brighton, who are looking to bring in their third new face of the January window, are also keen on a move for Flint’s Bristol teammate and fellow defender Joe Bryan, 24, according to the Bristol Post.

Both Brighton and Newcastle are reportedly interested in the left-back’s services, however, Newcastle’s interest may have slightly lessened following the signing of Chelsea’s Kenedy.

It is believed that both clubs are hoping to land the Championship star for a fee of around £7m.

Interestingly, both Flint and Bryan captured the attention of many during Bristol City’s emphatic League Cup run this season which saw them defeat Manchester United and follow it up with two terrific performances against Manchester City, losing out on aggregate 5-3.

Bryan earned the man of the match prize against United following a terrific individual performance whilst Flint had a stormer in the first leg against City, earning the man of the match prize for himself.
