Liverpool’s Belgian shot stopper Simon Mignolet is reportedly ready to quit Anfield following the rise of Loris Karius.
The 30-year-old is five games away from completing a double century of Reds appearances, and started off the current campaign as the club’s first choice ‘keeper.
However, since the turn of the year, Loris Karius has re-established himself above the Belgian in the pecking order and does not look like giving up his position any time soon.
Both shot stoppers have failed to properly earn the trust of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp during their Anfield careers. However, Karius finally appears to be righting this wrong, and his form suggests the young German may finally be ready to fulfil his potential.
Having grown tired of his position as the club’s number two, Mignolet has reportedly changed agents, bringing in Didier Frenay to help him broker a move away from Merseyside.
As DH suggested, European giants Dortmund and Napoli are leading the race to sign the Belgian, with heavy interest from other Premier League clubs also arising.
With nearly 250 appearances in the Premier League with Sunderland and Liverpool, and a further 25 in European competition, Mignolet is about as experienced a ‘keeper as they come and would no doubt make a great addition to plenty of squads in the top flight.
