Birmingham City’s Lukas Jutkiewicz has been instrumental in his side’s recent run of success, drawing praise from his manager.

Garry Monk manager of Birmingham City looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Ipswich Town at St Andrews on March 31, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Garry Monk was full of praise for his forward Lukas Jutkiewicz ahead of the Blues’ trip to Bolton Wanderers this evening.

Bolton currently sit one place ahead of Monk’s men in 20th place, with Birmingham given the chance to draw level on points with a win at the Macron Stadium.

Having only netted two goals in 31 appearances this term, the Englishman is not the typical forward that dominates headlines with his match-winning goals, but his contribution to the team has not gone unnoticed within the dressing room according to the manager.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Monk said: “Lukas has done fantastic. A lot of players will grab headlines, Lukas is the type of player that does a lot of the work that doesn’t so much get the praise that it probably should do, but from within it definitely does.

“It’s a lot of work for him that he puts in, but the good thing with Lukas is he is the type of player with his age and experience, again, it’s using their strengths.

“He knows what he is, he knows what is effective and what his strengths are.”

Jutkiewicz demonstrated his use as a goal-scorer last season when he bagged 12 goals. However, this term his input to the team has gone far beyond scoring goals, working tirelessly off the ball for his teammates.

Having only been appointed in early March, Monk will be looking forward to wrapping up the season soon, before turning his attention to the summer transfer window and a chance to build his own team and gear up for the Championship season ahead.

2017/2018 has been the club’s seventh consecutive campaign in England’s top flight, and the former Swansea captain and manager will be out to right that wrong.
