Aberdeen’s Shay Logan has been a stalwart in Derek McInnes’ side and has barely missed a game throughout the Dons’ rise to prominence.

With the season drawing to a close, Aston Villa still have the chance to achieve promotion to the Premier League, albeit likely through a play-off place having failed to stamp their authority on the automatic promotion spots.
Steve Bruce’s men currently sit in fourth place on 76 points, five points behind second placed Fulham, with four games left to play of the league season before the play-offs commence.
Regardless of whether the side reaches the Premier League or not, Bruce will be turning his attention to summer recruitment as the Villans gear up for either a first top flight campaign in three years, or yet another Championship slog in which they attempt to make it back to the peak of English football.
One position where Villa have struggled is right back, and it is likely to be an are where Bruce looks to improve in the close season, so what about Aberdeen’s Shay Logan?
Having joined the Dons on loan from Brentford in 2013/14, Logan was quickly snapped up permanently and has gone on to play nearly every league game possible in the last few years.

Since Logan joined the club, Derek McInnes has helped to establish them as the standout team in Scotland behind continual champions Celtic, and the 30-year-old has been one of the first names on the team sheet throughout.
Villa currently posses two highly experienced right-backs in Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton, and with Hutton aged 33 and out of contract this summer, the club will be looking to bring in cover.
Logan has more than proven his worth as a reliable full-back over the last five seasons and, aged 30, still has plenty of football left in him compared to Hutton. The right-back has bags of experience to serve as Elmohamady’s deputy and would no doubt relish a chance to return to his homeland for one last crack at English football before his career is out.
Aberdeen have the chance to reach the Scottish Cup final for a second season in a row this weekend as they face Motherwell in the semi-final at Hampden. Having won the League Cup in his first season with the Dons, a Scottish Cup victory would top off what has been a terrific five seasons at Pittodrie.
