John McGinn’s name will be on many Celtic fan’s lips after the Hibs star’s stunning strike against Rangers at Ibrox.

The long-term Celtic target played a crucial role in Hibs’ 2-1 victory over Rangers at Ibrox at the weekend, and proved once again that he is the real deal, ready for the pressures that come with playing for Scotland’s footballing powerhouse.

The 23-year-old’s wonderful 25-year-strike opened the scoring for Neil Lennon’s side as half-time approached, setting up the chance for an historic victory at Ibrox which saw the Edinburgh side move within two points of the Gers in the race for second place.

Hibs did well to hold on to McGinn in January, after a long month of speculation with talks of a move to Celtic and the Premier League being reported by the Daily Mail.

If his performance against Rangers is anything to go by, there is no doubt that clubs will come calling for the Scotland international once again in the summer. However Lennon hopes that his consistency will have slapped a hefty amount on his already sizeable price tag.

Speaking to Hibs TV on McGinn’s performance and goal Lennon said: “We deserved it. It was a brilliant goal.

“He positioned himself beautifully and that’s a winder strike. His all round game today was fantastic. He’s back to his very best so that puts another million on his price tag.”
