Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has predicted a victory for his former side at Hampden this weekend.

Russell Martin of Rangers hits the post with a header during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium on March 17, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ex-Rangers hard man Alex Rae believes his former side will finally get the better of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic on Sunday, if they can get their game management right.

In the previous Old Firm clash, Rangers started the game magnificently, and led Celtic twice throughout the 90 minutes, but were unable to capitalise on Jozo Simunovic’s second half red card.

Instead, Celtic held their bottle to come back on two occasions, taking the lead with a man down, as Rodgers’ demonstrated the exact game management that Rae suggests the Gers must get right on Sunday to win.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer on 12th April 2018, the 2004/05 Scottish Premier League champion says there has been enough evidence in the last two derby encounters to suggest that Rangers can match the Hoops’ in terms of playing quality on the day.

Olivier Ntcham of Celtic's free kick hits the wall during the Rangers v Celtic Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Should they keep their composure, like the Bhoys did previously, Graeme Murty could mastermind a historic victory on Sunday.

“They’ve have opportunities, they’ve scored against Celtic recently, and I just feel as if they can get the mental side of it, the game management slightly better, then I feel as though they can get over the line,” Rae told PLZ Soccer.

Unfortunately for the Gers, they will be without star man Josh Windass, who is still currently sidelined, and David Bates, who recently confirmed a move away to Hamburg at the end of the season, who has been terrific in the heart of defence.

Regardless, Rangers still posses a number of useful attacking players, who will be ready to expose Celtic’s defensive frailties, which are well known by all those familiar with the Scottish league.
