Having impressed on loan and given the current striker situation at Newcastle, Adam Armstrong may yet have a St James’ Park career.

English youngster Adam Armstrong is impressing on loan at Blackburn, scoring again on the weekend as he netted his side’s opener in a 2-2 draw with fellow promotion chasers Wigan Athletic.
The Blackburn move marked Armstrong’s fourth loan spell away from Newcastle, having played for Coventry City, Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers previously.
The 21-year-old has made 21 appearances for the Magpies so far in his career, but is yet to score a senior goal for his parent club. This season, however, the England under-20 international has bagged five goals in 12 appearances, only seven of which were starts.
The youngster also boasts an impressive record at international youth level with seven strikes in 13 caps for England under-20s, and was a part of the Three Lions team that brought home the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2017.

Given the current striker situation at Newcastle, Armstrong could have a big part to play in Rafa Benitez’s squad if things go his way.
Should nothing come of the Islam Slimani loan as well, Armstrong’s dream of a Magpies career will become increasingly likely.
Helping guide Blackburn to promotion from League One would be a hugely beneficial experience to the Newcastle youngster, who tore the division up in 2015/16 for Coventry when he scored 20 goals.
One thing is for sure, and that is that Armstrong is doing a good job of ensuring he remains at the forefront of Rafa Benitez’s radar.
