Summer signing Cuco Martina appears to have endeared himself to the Everton faithful through his spirited performances and dedication to the club.

Perhaps not the most talented of football players, the Curacao international full-back never fails to give 100% and always plays with his heart on his sleeve and demonstrates the exact level of commitment that football fans cry out for.

Since arriving from Southampton in 2017, the 28-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Toffees, standing in frequently to play in unnatural positions.

Martina has traditionally played as a right-back throughout his career, but also has the ability to be deployed as a central defender or defensive midfielder.

In recent weeks, however, following an injury to Leighton Baines, the right-back has found himself playing on the left either as a left-back or left-wing back depending on the formation of the team.

In a recent interview with the Everton website, Martina spoke about the extra training he had taken on to help improve his left-foot, so that he can be more of a use to the team when deployed on his unnatural side.

This sort of commitment is exactly what Everton fans appear to expect from their players, and news of Martina’s dedicated training regimes have led many fans to take to Twitter to express their admiration for the player.
